'Hunger Games' Crosses $600 Million Globally

The Avengers faces a tough battle if they want to top Katniss and company's expected $400 million domestic earnings.

After its sixth weekend in theaters, The Hunger Games" is still lighting up the box office. Katniss and company's cumulative gross is currently a whopping $601 million worldwide, after raking in $11.2 million in the U.S. and another $7.4 million overseas this weekend.

Standing tall at #4, the dystopian franchise's weekend dip was 23 percent, which is the lowest decline yet for the movie (its second weekend in theaters saw a 60 percent drop), according to Box Office Guru. And it wasn't far behind third-place "The Lucky One," which earned $11.3 following its second weekend.

It looks like the assembly of Earth's mightiest heroes won't even be able to stop Katniss' estimated goal. With "The Hunger Games" sitting comfortably with a domestic total of $372.4 million, it's going to take more than Thor and his mighty hammer to bring "Marvel's The Avengers" to the top. If "The Hunger Games" can rake in $400 million domestically (like box-office experts predicted), it would outperform the first films in both "Twilight" and "Harry Potter."

As audiences gear up for the highly anticipated Marvel film, only time will tell what this weekend will bring the first film in Katniss' franchise. And as far as the success of a sequel since Gary Ross is no longer on board to direct, it isn't something Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, is particularly worried about.

"Gary, I think, brought so much to the movie, and he created that whole world that was so close to the book and so perfect in so many ways that it's going to be hard for Francis [Lawrence] to come in, for sure," Hutcherson told MTV News at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. "But Francis is extremely talented and everyone I've talked to says he's the best guy in the world. So I think he's going to bring a lot [to the sequel]."

What film to you think will be the bigger box-office smash: "The Hunger Games" or "The Avengers"? Sound off in the comments! Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

Viddy Is Raising $30M At A $370M Valuation

Screen Shot 2012-04-26 at 9.08.27 PMSomeone wise once said "If Instagram for video were to happen it would look nothing like Instagram" but, because it was on Twitter, I briefly saw that tweet before it got lost in the ether and now I can't find it, dammit. But whoever said this is right (please reach out if it was you, I want to give you credit) and also didn't tell Viddy, which for the most part looks exactly like Instagram for video. Fine. Anyways, people have been reporting all over the place about Viddy's current insane Series B so I guess I (and you) should care. And quite honestly, I (and you) totally should really care because it's more money than I've ever seen. Seriously, ever seen. Which means co-founders JJ Aguhob and Brett O'Brien might just be onto something, so ...

Justin Bieber Says He's 'Too Young' To Marry

'It doesn't mean Selena is not the right person though,' he says of waiting a bit before he ties the knot, to anyone.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez denied engagement reports last week. And it seems that the Biebs, at age 18, is definitely not ready to get married. Doing press in Europe to spread the message about his new album, Believe, he was asked if he was ready to walk down the aisle with his actress/singer girlfriend.

"No, I'm too young. One day, I will get engaged, when I have found the right person in five or 10 years. It doesn't mean Selena is not the right person though!" he told Le Parisien, Pressparty.com reports. "She's going to kill me if I say that!"

The singer then talked a bit about having people constantly speculate about his relationship with Gomez. "It is not easy to be so young and to have a relationship with someone that doesn't stay private," he said. "But, well, I am a public personality, it is what I wanted, so I have to deal with it."

Earlier this year, Bieber opened up to MTV News about wanting to be a young dad. "I see myself in 10 years having a family," he said. "Twenty-eight, that's a good time to really have a family 'cause I want to be a young dad. Maybe, [it's a] long time away though. Don't get any ideas, people. It's not happening anytime soon."

Well, perhaps if he follows his own ground rules to being a great boyfriend, then one day he really will make some special lady happy. "I don't know if I'm even the best boyfriend," Bieber said on the set of his video for "Boyfriend." "But I can give a few suggestions. I think being honest and patient, because girls can be tough sometimes, so you just got to be patient. That's two. Forgive, and have fun, because it's about having fun. Last one? Be faithful."

PSA: Space Shuttle Enterprise flying over NYC this morning

Space Shuttle Enterprise

JFK may be a place that many, many people have gone to before, but it's safe to say that the Space Shuttle Enterprise will be going there boldly. Much like the Space Shuttle Discovery turned heads in DC last week, Space Shuttle Enterprise will be stopping traffic in New York City today. NASA has confirmed that today's 747-100 ferry flight across Manhattan is a "Go" and that the duo will "fly at a relatively low altitude over various parts of the New York City metropolitan area on Friday" before landing at JFK. The Shuttle will then, in the coming weeks, be put on a ferry of a floating variety and brought to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. Today's flying tour is scheduled to take place between 9:30 and 11:30 am and... oh look, at the time, we must be going.

Update: NASA has confirmed takeoff from Dulles! The flight plan is not known, but as before your best bet is to follow the #spottheshuttle hashtag on Twitter.

Colton Dixon Might Work With Fellow 'Idol' Alum Daughtry

Seventh-place finisher tells MTV News he hopes to model his career after Daughtry, who finished fourth place during season five
By Christina Garibaldi

It's certainly not uncommon for an "American Idol" cast-off to go on and do amazing things. Jennifer Hudson, who ended up in seventh place on season three, went on to win an Oscar for her role in "Dreamgirls," season two runner-up Clay Aiken has sold 4.9 million albums and fourth-place finisher Chris Daughtry had two consecutive #1 albums on the Billboard charts.

Hoping to add his name to that list is Colton Dixon. In a shocking elimination on last week's episode, the 20-year-old rocker was sent home after appearing for the first time in the bottom three, finishing out his "Idol" run in seventh place. But Dixon isn't too heartbroken over his elimination, as he's already thinking about the next step in his career: his debut album.

"I have multiple, multiple songs, it's gonna be hard choosing songs for a record, I'm going to be writing till my fingers bleed," Dixon told MTV News on Monday. "I hope I get to incorporate some of my older stuff in there too because then I can make it come full circle for me and this record would mean that much more. But just the different writers we're already talking about. I had dinner with Chris Daughtry and there's the option of writing with him, which would be amazing. And Jason Wade of Lifehouse called me up after I did his song and was interested in writing."

And it seemed that during Dixon's dinner with Daughtry they talked a lot more than just music. "He's such a great guy, genuine guy, we talked about whatever, Jesus, life, we talked about Batman for probably 30 minutes, we're both Batman nerds," Dixon revealed, "It's great to see established artists reaching out and trying to pull you up there."

Yet, besides swapping Batman stories, Daughtry has given Dixon some valuable advice on how to achieve success post-"American Idol."

"I'm definitely trying to get as much advice from Chris on the future as possible," Dixon said. "Just to help model my career after things that he has done, because he's done a phenomenal job of just going for it even after getting voted off fourth. I'm hoping I can make the most out of top seven." Would you want to hear a Colton Dixon and Chris Daughtry collaboration? Let us know in the comments.
